TNL Calls For 24 Hours Total Shutdown

Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) the apex body of Tangkhul Naga community has called for a 24 hour total shutdown within the jurisdiction of Tangkhul Naga Long, with effect from 7:00PM of 8 June 2026. TNL has demanded the immediate removal of the illegal Assam Rifles outpost at New Heaven along NH-202 and for taking befitting criminal action against the army personnel for their use of excessive force and brutal assault on the peaceful Naga women at Finch Corner, Shokvao and New Heaven.

The statement issued by Thanreingam Muivah, Additional Secretary,Tangkhul Naga Long stated that “as per the resolution of the Joint Co-ordination Meeting held on 8 June, 2026, a 24-hour total shutdown is announced within the jurisdiction of Tangkhul Naga Long, with effect from 7:00 pm of 8th June, 2026.

“The shutdown demands immediate removal of the illegal Assam Rifles outpost at New Heaven along NH-202 and for taking befitting criminal action against the army personnel for their use of excessive force and brutal assault on the peaceful women protesters at New Heaven, Shokvao and Finch Corner.”

The following shall be exempted for the purview of the shutdown, namely medical, water supply, electricity and media.
