The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) has strongly condemned the armed attack on Langka (Taniuluang) Naga Village in Kangpokpi District on 13 August 2026, allegedly carried out by armed cadres of the Kuki National Front (P), reportedly led by Jangboi Kipgen.
The attack resulted in the deaths of Mr. Wiriliangbou Chawang, aged 35, and Mr. Kawidinang Abonmai, aged 54. Mr. Namthiulungbou Prinmai (45) sustained a groin injury, and Mr. Maliangjinang Abonmai (50) sustained injuries to his chest and arm.
NSUD is deeply concerned by the recurrence of attacks on Naga civilians and villages. Violence directed against unarmed civilians constitutes a grave threat to human life, dignity, and communal security, and must be unequivocally condemned. The protection of civilians cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
NSUD extends its profound condolences to the bereaved families of Mr. Wiriliangbou Chawang and Mr. Kawidinang Abonmai, and expresses its solidarity with the people of Langka Naga Village. It also wishes the injured civilians a speedy recovery and urges the authorities to ensure immediate and adequate medical assistance.
NSUD calls upon the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take prompt and effective measures to strengthen the security of Naga villages, prevent further attacks, and ensure a credible, impartial, and time-bound investigation so that all those responsible are brought to justice in accordance with law.
The protection of civilian life, dignity, and security must remain paramount. Violence against civilians must never be normalised or tolerated.
