The Central Working Committee, Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation (TNFO) strongly condemns the State government handing over the case of two dead persons in the cross gun encountered at the hill range of Shikiphung on 11th March 2026 to the NIA terming it as baseless, irrational and unjustified.

CWC, TNFO vehemently questioned the action of the State Government of Manipur for handing over such cases to NIA. It further categorically questions that will the cases of all incidents such as the brutal assaults and killings of civilians in Churachandpur and Bishnupur, in 2023, stripping and assault of Kuki-Zo women in Thoubal in July 2023 and will all the killing or death of civilians of both communities in the last conflict be put up to NIA for further investigation.

Further, the CWC, TNFO demands immediate scrapping of FIR against Ashang Kasar filed by Lungoulen Guite at Kangpokpi Police Station on 15th March 2026.

“Calling for due process and verification is neither misinformation nor provocation. It is a legitimate and responsible demand for justice, transparency, and accountability. Criminalizing such concerns undermine democratic principles and discourage citizens from raising lawful questions in the public interest.

“Finally, The CWC TNFO urges the government of Manipur to apply equal standard of justice in all cases of violence in the state and it also calls upon civil society organizations, student unions, and community leaders to remain vigilant against any misuse of legal processes for political purposes. Otherwise, it will be considered that GOM is escalating the issue that is progressively worsening over time and beginning to cause more significant negative impacts if not addressed promptly” stated Media Cell / Information and Publicity Cell, CWC, TNFO
