The Working Committee of Tangkhul Naga Long urges both the State and Central Governments to take immediate and decisive action. The Kuki armed cadres operating under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) must be taken to task for violating the agreement entered with the Government of India without delay.
The press communique of Working Committee TNL reads “since the outbreak of conflict at Litan on 8th February 2026, Kuki SoO cadres have been on a violent rampage, attacking Tangkhul Naga villages in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
“On Thursday afternoon, innocent civilians of Sinakeithei village once again came under heavy gunfire and bombing. A local resident, Chihanngam Rungsung, 27, son of Theingasung Rungsung, was seriously injured. He was shot in the ankle, reportedly by a sophisticated sniper weapon, and is currently undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Ukhrul. The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) strongly condemns this senseless and cowardly act of terror. Such attacks on innocent civilians will not be taken lightly.
“For nearly three months, the situation created by Kuki SoO cadres has severely affected the survival of Tangkhul Nagas in Ukhrul and Kamjong. People are facing immense hardship and living under constant fear.
“Kuki militants, backed by certain Kuki villages including Yaolen, Mangkot Chepu, Shangkai, Thawai Kuki, Zalenbung, Lamlai Chingphei, Mollen Kamsei, Shongphel, Khomonnom, Sijang, Leplen, Shongmun, Mollam, Bungpi, H. Langjol, Molnoum, Moulsohoi, Pashong and Dongsum, have effectively blocked free movement along National Highway 202-A, a vital route for the region.
“There have been repeated incidents along NH 202-A, including abduction and harassment of innocent passengers, extortion of transporters, and ambushes on civilian vehicles. These acts have resulted in loss of lives and created widespread fear among peaceful Tangkhul villagers.
“The Tangkhul Naga community has shown great restraint despite continuous provocation. However, these acts of terror cannot be tolerated any longer. We appeal to all right-thinking people and communities across the world to take serious note of these inhuman acts being committed against fellow citizens in Manipur, India.
“The Working Committee of TNL urges both the State and Central Governments to take immediate and decisive action. The Kuki armed cadres operating under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) must be taken to task for violating the agreement entered with the Government of India without delay.
“The government must also establish full control over the affected areas, particularly in Kuki villages within the conflict zones of Ukhrul, Kamjong and adjoining areas of Kangpokpi district, where armed militants continue to operate openly.
“Failure to act decisively will only worsen the situation” stated the press statement issued by the Media Cell, Working Committee, TNL.
