RBCC Expresses Grief & Prays For Healing Across Manipur

The Rongmei Baptist Churches Council (RBCC) expresses profound grief and deep concern over the tragic killing of six Naga individuals, including two pastors. We extend our heartfelt condolences, prayers, and Christian solidarity to the bereaved families and to all who are mourning this painful loss.

The statement issued dny RBCC stated that “the taking of innocent human life is a grave wrong. The killing of civilians and church leaders is especially distressing and stands in direct contradiction to the God-given dignity of every human being and to the values of compassion, justice, truth, and peace that we uphold as followers of Christ. At a time when Manipur has already endured immense suffering, such acts only deepen fear, grief, and mistrust among communities.

“In our shared pursuit of peace, the RBCC appeals to the hearts and responsibilities of our authorities to launch a thorough, unbiased, and prompt investigation. We ask that every effort be made to identify those behind this tragedy and to ensure that justice is administered with fairness and legal integrity. We further urge the Government to provide timely support, protection, and necessary assistance to the affected families, and to take all possible measures to prevent further escalation of tensions.

“In this fragile and highly sensitive moment, RBCC appeals to all communities, leaders, and organisations to exercise the utmost restraint in both word and action. We urge everyone to reject retaliation, collective blame, rumour, and any narrative that may widen division or provoke further violence. The pain and anguish felt by our people are real and profound; however, as a church-based body, we affirm that lasting peace cannot be built through vengeance. It must be pursued through truth, justice, mercy, dialogue, and responsible action.”

RBCC acknowledges with appreciation every sincere humanitarian and peacebuilding effort undertaken by church leaders, civil society organisations, community elders, and authorities to protect lives, reduce tensions, encourage dialogue, and prevent further loss of life. Such efforts remind us that even in times of deep conflict, moral courage, compassion, and the pursuit of peace remain possible.

“We call upon our churches, believers, and all people of goodwill to pray for the grieving families, for justice to be done, for the protection of every innocent life, and for healing and reconciliation across Manipur. May the Church remain steadfast in bearing witness to Christ’s peace, standing with all who suffer, and encouraging wisdom, courage, and compassion in this difficult hour” added the statement issued by the Rongmei Baptist Churches Council (RBCC).
