The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed profound outraged over the horrific abduction, torture, murder and desecration of the six innocent Naga men from Konsakhul Naga Village, whose mortal remains were recovered on 10 June 2026 after they were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Village on 13 May 2026 by the Kuki militants, village volunteers and leaders.
The statement of NSF reads, ‘the brutality inflicted upon the victims is beyond the bounds of human comprehension. That the victims were subjected to prolonged torture before being mercilessly killed and their bodies. mutilated and dismembered reveal a level of savagery that strikes at the very core of our shared humanity, beyond human dignity, cultural values and the fundamental principles of humanity itself.
“The torture and desecration of the victims’ bodies is a deliberate intent to humiliate, terrorize and dehumanize the entire Naga community. The acts cannot be justified under any circumstance, nor can they be excused in the name of ethnic, political or territorial conflict. The perpetrators have committed an act that stands among the darkest manifestations of human cruelty.”
The NSF viewed the incident as a dangerous normalization of violence and impunity that has engulfed Manipur over the past three years. The abduction of civilians, their prolonged disappearance, torture, execution and mutilation expose the complete absence of accountability and the failure of authorities to deliver justice.
The Federation holds the Kuki militants under Suspension of Operations (SoO) with Government of India absolutely accountable for the most grievous crime committed against innocent civilians. The Federation also holds both the Government of Manipur and the Government of India accountable for their continued inability to safeguard citizens and uphold. the rule of law. Despite repeated assurances, extensive security operations and the deployment of thousands of Central Security Forces across the state, innocent civilians continue to be abducted, tortured, murdered and subjected to unspeakable atrocities.
The Federation asked, ” How can such a gruesome crime occur in a state saturated with security forces? How is it that after more than three years of violence, countless killings, disappearances, destruction of villages and gross human rights violations, there remains an alarming absence of convictions against those responsible? The Federation is equally disturbed by the partisan conduct, selective intervention and failure of certain security agencies operating in conflict-affected areas.”
The Federation extended their deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Konsakhul Naga Village. “We share in their grief and pain during this tragic period and stand in unwavering solidarity with them. No family should ever have to endure the anguish of witnessing their loved ones subjected to such unimaginable cruelty” stated NSF.
The Federation has demanded that the Government of India and the Government of Manipur publicly explain the circumstances that allowed such an atrocity to occur despite the extensive presence of security forces in the state. NSF further demanded an immediate and time-bound investigation into this horrific crime before the conflict turns into a full-blown Civil war amongst communities in Manipur. Every individual involved must be identified, apprehended, prosecuted and punished in accordance with the law. NSF has also demanded the immediate abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) regime under which countless atrocities and gross human rights violations have been committed with impunity by armed narco-Kuki militants.
The Federation reiterates that “peace cannot prevail until truth is acknowledged, perpetrators are held accountable and justice is delivered. This barbaric act serves as a painful reminder that justice remains elusive for many innocent victims of the conflict.
“The Federation stands firmly with the people of Konsakhul Naga Village and the wider Naga community in demanding justice for the six innocent victims. Their suffering must not be forgotten, their memories must not be erased, and their killers must not be allowed to escape accountability. The Federation will not stay silent until justice is delivered” stated the statement issued by Mteisuding, President NSF and Kenilo Kent, General Secretary NSF.
