The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has strongly condemned the armed attack conducted on 29 July 2026, morning till late afternoon at Bitiang Naga Village, approximately 17 kilometres from Noney.

The statement of NWU reads “according to reports received by the Union, the attack was a combined operation by ZUF-J, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) including CoBRA unit personnel, resulted in the killing of Mr. Lanbimei Riamei (29 yrs) Naga Village Guard while defending the village against an armed attack by a militant group.”

The NWU maintains that security forces have a constitutional and professional duty to exercise restraint, protect civilian lives, and uphold the rule of law without bias. The misplaced priority raises serious concerns about justice, accountability, and the equal

protection of all citizens under the law.

The Union further states that the priority of security agencies should be to bring to justice those responsible for the brutal killings and violence of 6 Naga innocent brothers that continue to afflict the region profoundly. The security personnel should have the professional will to penetrate the perpetrators’ Leilon Vaiphei village and apprehend the perpetrators

responsible for the abduction and brutal murder in the most barbaric manner of the six Naga innocent brothers. Bringing those responsible to justice must be the foremost priority.

The Union reiterates its call for a review and reduction of excessive security deployment in

Naga areas and urges the Government and the concerned authorities to ensure an impartial

and transparent investigation into the incidents and deliver justice. Manipur, the most heavily militarized state brings no better situation than getting ill treatment from the security forces. So, it is appealed to withdraw heavy deployment from Naga areas.

The Naga Women’s Union has demanded a prompt and impartial justice into the killing of a Naga Village Guard at Bitiang Village. “Those responsible must be held accountable, and justice

must be delivered without delay” added NWU.

“The Naga Women’s Union reaffirms its unwavering commitment to justice, peace, human rights, and the protection of the dignity of the land” stated the statement issued by the Information and Publicity Cell, Naga Women’s Union (NWU).

The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) also mourns the martyrdom of Pouh Lanbimei Riamei. “Pouh Lanbimei Riamei made the supreme sacrifice in the service of his people, who was killed by armed adversaries. His courage, unwavering commitment, and selfless devotion in defending his homeland will forever be remembered. His sacrifice stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Naga people in the face of adversity” stated the condolence message of Naga Women’s Union.
