The Shangkai Youth Club (SYC) on Thursday issued a clarification on the recent incident that occurred on Wednesday at the Shangkai Village, P.O/P.S Litan, Ukhrul District, Manipur.

The statement issued by Hegin Haokip, President, Shangkai Youth Club and Lenpu Haokip, Secretary, Shangkai Youth Club stated that, “the Shangkai Youth Club would like to clarify the recent incident that occurred last night (12/11/2025 around 07:00 PM) within the premises of Shangkai Village.

“A group of riders, despite repeated prior warnings and notices from well wishers, created ruckus and disturbance within the village area through reckless riding and disorderly behavior. During the course of their actions, an innocent passer-by was unfortunately injured and had to be immediately taken to Saikul PHC. The victim was later referred to Getwell Hospital, Senapati, for further treatment due to suspected internal injuries.

“In the aftermath, certain villagers, angered by the continued disregard for village rules and the injury caused, confronted the riders, resulting in a physical altercation.

“However, the matter has since been amicably resolved through mutual understanding in the presence of the Officer-in-Charge, Litan Police Station, on the same night.

“We strongly urge the general public and concerned individuals not to communalize or politicize the incident. The issue was in no way communal but arose purely from reckless and irresponsible behavior that endangered the safety of villagers.”

The Shangkai Youth Club appeals for calm and restraint from all sides. Any further attempt to provoke or spread tension will be considered irresponsible, and any untoward incidents arising from such acts shall be the sole responsibility of those involved.

“Let us all work together towards maintaining peace, understanding, and mutual respect among all communities” added the statement
