A District Level Officers meeting was held today at the Mini-Secretariat Conference Hall, Kamjong District Headquarters to discuss the preparation for the 80th Independence Day celebration in Kamjong District.
Deputy Commissioner, L.N. Kashung (IAS) chaired the meeting which was attended by Superintendent of Police, Kamjong, Tholu Rocky, Additional Deputy Commissioner, H.L. Jain, Sub-Divisional Officers and District Level Officers among others.
The meeting deliberated on the various roles and responsibilities assigned to different departments for the successful celebration of the Independence Day.
L.N. Kashung directed the District Level Officers of different departments to perform their assigned tasks responsibly to make the celebration grand and lively.
The meeting also discussed the arrangement for the observance of Har Ghar Tiranga across the district from 9th to 17th August, 2026 and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on 14th August joining the nation-wide observation.
It may be mentioned that Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is observed across the country on 14th August commemorating the victims and sufferings of people during the partition of Indians in 1947. It aims to remind every Indian the need to remove social divisions, disharmony and to further strengthen the spirit of oneness and social harmony.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Shri L.N. Kashung chaired a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority, Kamjong District at the Conference Hall of Mini- Secretariat, Kamjong. The meeting discussed the preparedness to mitigate disaster in the district.
The District Administration Kamjong today also organised Panch Sammelan, celebrating the Vision of Grassroots Governance under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-GRAM G) Act, 2025 at Mini Secretariat Complex, Kamjong District Headquarter. The programme was organised by District Programme Co-ordinator, VB-GRAM G, Kamjong District.
Deputy Commissioner L.N. Kashung, while addressing the gathering highlighted the objective and enhanced provisions of the VB-G RAM G Act that came into force on July 1, 2026. He also featured that the working days of MNREGA have increased from 100 to 125 days and wage rate fixed at 300 rupees per day.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised on strengthening the economic conditions of the region, which would then improve education and develop the skill of the people. He also urged the gathering to make use of the many provisions provided by the government under the Act.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kamjong H.L. Jain, while explaining the features of VB-G RAM G Act, stated the significance of the planned approach driven and enabled by technology. He stressed on the scheme which focused on five areas including water security, rural development infrastructure, livelihood, disaster mitigation and climate resilience and water security.
Sub-Divisional Officers, Nimmi Azingwungshi Khamrang, A. Rohini Kumar, Subinson Sapam, Project Officer, RD & PR, Kamjong, Ningshimi Awungshi, District Level Officers, village heads and residents of Kamjong District attended the programme among others.
