The United Naga Council (UNC) issued an endorsement of the proposed “Mega Rally” called by COCOMI on 31 October 2026 at Imphal. UNC has appealed to the general public to support the Mega Rally. Simultaneously, Peaceful Sit-in-Protest / Solidarity Rally will be held in all Naga District Headquarters on October 31, 2026 from 11.00 AM. onwards. UNC has directed its Tribe Hohos and District Frontal Organizations to successfully and effectively execute the Sit-in-Protest/Rally in their respective District Headquarters.

The endorsement and public appeal of the UNC reads, “considering the pressing situation in the state of terror and the existential threat to the indigenous people of Manipur, the Council issued this endorsement and appeal to the general public to support the Mega Rally called by the COCOMI on 31st October, 2026 at Imphal.”

The Mega Rally will be demanding:

1. Abrogation of the SoO Pact with Kuki Militants

2. End of the proxy war in Manipur, and

3. Removal of Assam Rifles from the State, especially border areas, and replacing them with any other neutral Central forces like BSF.

“We have been witnessing the deteriorating security situation, the continuous reign of terror unleashed by Kuki militant groups operating under the protection of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact, and the grave existential threat looming over the indigenous communities of the State and general public.

“The role of Assam Rifles, especially in border and conflict areas, has become highly questionable. Instead of securing the Indo-Myanmar border and protecting indigenous villages, it has been perceived as partisan, mute spectators to aggression and a barrier to effective action by other security forces.

“Therefore, the council hereby fully endorses the proposed Mega Rally of COCOMI and announces that in solidarity with the Mega Rally at Imphal, a simultaneous Peaceful Sit-in-Protest / Solidarity Rally will be held in all Naga District Headquarters on October 31, 2026 from 11.00 AM. onwards.

“In pursuance of the same, Naga People’s Union, Imphal and others Naga Frontal Organizations and churches are hereby called upon to mobilize and ensure maximum Naga public participation in the Mega Rally at Imphal. Simultaneously, District Apex Bodies, Tribe Hohos and District Frontal Organizations are entrusted with the full responsibility for the effective and successful execution of Sit-in-Protest/Rally in their respective District Headquarters.

“The UNC appeals to all concerned Naga Tribe Hohos, Frontal Organizations, village authorities, Churches, women, youth and students to come out in large numbers and participate to the Mega Rally in Imphal and in their respective Headquarters to show our collective resolve against terror and to protect our ancestral land and identity” stated the statement issued by NG. Lorho, President, UNC.
