TSL Calls For Resignation Of Nemcha Kipgen Deputy CM of Manipur

Naga women held sit-in protest at Ukhrul and Kamjong Headquarters, the calls for resignation of Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy CM of Manipur are getting louder. “Nemcha Kipgen Must Resign For Her Complicity To The Abduction Of Naga Civilians By Her Husband’s Organisation under SoO” reads the placard during the sit-in protest held at Ukhrul Headquarters, organised by Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL).

The demand for the safe release of 6 Naga civilians held hostages by Kuki militants is getting louder each day across the hills of Manipur.

The Naga women from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts of Manipur under the aegis of Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) held a sit-in protest at Ukhrul Headquarters and Kamjong Headquarters against the abduction of 6 Naga men by Kuki militants on 13 May 2026 at Leilon Vaiphei Village, Senapati District, Manipur.

At Ukhrul, units of TSL from different directions and places gathered at Mini Secretariat Complex for the protest.

The protestors shouted slogans like “Release 6 Naga Hostages” Scrap The SoO” Remove Suspension Of Operation From Naga Areas”

The Tangkhul Shanao Long submitted a memorandum addressed to Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur, through the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul District in regards to urgent intervention for the safe release of six hostages held by Kuki militants at Leilon Vaiphei Village, Senapati District, Manipur.

The memorandum reads “the Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL), with deep distress and concern would like to place the following for your immediate and urgent action. As you are aware, on 13th May 2026, a number of Nagas were abducted at LeilonVaiphei Village and were held hostage. While some of them have been released, the following 6 individuals are yet to be released, and their whereabouts unknown.

1. Dr. Rev. Manu Thiumai;

2. Pastor KenpibouChawang;

3. Mr. Dilip Thiumai;

4. Mr. KaliwangbouAbonmai;

5. Mr. Phenrongwibou Thiumai; and

6. Mr. Ch. Phenrilungbou

“In this regard, the TSL demands the state government to:

1. Ensure the safe and immediate release of all the hostages;

2. Immediate arrest and prosecution of all the individuals and groups involved in the criminal act.

“We hope your office will act on this matter at the earliest so as not to create further tensions and confrontations” stated the memorandum signed by Thingreiphi Lungharwoshi, President TSL.
