Kuki CSO Rebuts False Kidnapping Propaganda

The Kuki CSO Working Committee Ukhrul (WCKCSOS- Ukhrul) categorically dismisses the malicious propaganda alleging that “One Naga, Kharaingam Jajo, an Indian Overseas Bank staff, was kidnapped by Kuki-Zos near the Shangkai-Mahadev stretch of NH-202.”

The press statement stated that “the allegation is a blatant fabrication aimed at maligning the peaceful counter-economic blockade.

“As clearly stipulated in Press Release No. WC/PR69/07/26 dated 26/07/2026, the counter-economic blockade is being enforced strictly in accordance with the notified guidelines. No civilian has been asked to alight from any vehicle, nor has any traveller been detained.

“The only vehicle intercepted was an India Post truck found transporting vegetables and grocery items alongside legitimate postal consignments. The commercial commodities were confiscated and destroyed in accordance with the declared guidelines, while the driver, vehicle, and all genuine postal articles were allowed to proceed unharmed.

“Moreover, the entire NH-202 stretch from Mongkot Chepu to Mongneljang remains under heavy deployment of the Litan Sareikhong Police, BSF, CRPF, and the Indian Army, making the alleged kidnapping both implausible and absurd.

“WCKCSOs-Ukhrul urges Tangkhul-Meitei propagandists to desist from spreading fabricated narratives to discredit a peaceful democratic protest. Unlike the unannounced selective economic blockade previously imposed on the Kuki-Zo community-where vehicles were allegedly torched and drivers assaulted-the ongoing counter-economic blockade is disciplined, transparent, and conducted under publicly declared protocols.

“The public and the media are urged to verify facts before circulating misinformation” stated the press statement issued by the Department of Information and Media, WCKCSOs-Ukhrul.
