The beta launch of the TuiTam Tangkhul Learning App was held today in New Delhi as an invite-only gathering of Tangkhul pastors, professionals, professors, and friends. The event marked a significant step toward preserving and promoting the Tangkhul Naga language among younger generations, especially those growing up outside their homeland.
The launch was led by Rev. Dr. Wungreiso Valui, Rev Dr. Margareth Valui, and Thotmahai Raingam, who serve as founders and co-founders of the Lengkot Tech Solutions.
A Vision Born from the Heart
Unlike many tech innovations, TuiTam was not conceived in a boardroomโit was born in a family setting. The founders shared that the idea emerged from a deeply personal moment when their children, raised in the United States, struggled to communicate with their grandmother in their native Tangkhul language.
โThat pain became the seed,โ one of the founders shared. โWhen children cannot express love, stories, or identity in their own language, something deeper is lost.โ
This experience resonated widely among attendees. Dr. Reisang Vashum expressed a similar concern, noting his desire for his children to remain connected to their linguistic roots. Community members including Thotmung and Venus Muivah shared that they had long awaited such a learning platform.
Technology Serving Culture and Identity
The app is developed under the leadership of Thotmahai Raingam, CEO of Lengkot Tech Solutions, who continues to invest in digital solutions for the Tangkhul Naga community.
Our previous work includes the development of โSpirit Link,โ a church management system, and now expands into language preservation through TuiTam.
A key contributor to the appโs linguistic foundation is Yozori K Shimray, who led the research and authored the language content, ensuring cultural authenticity and accuracy.
More Than an App
Speakers at the event emphasized that TuiTam is not merely a language-learning tool. It represents a broader missionโpreserving identity, honoring culture, strengthening community ties, and passing on a living legacy.
โThis is about our people, our land, and our future,โ organizers noted. โLanguage is not just wordsโit is who we are.โ
Looking Ahead
The beta launch concluded with strong enthusiasm and anticipation. Attendees expressed excitement for the appโs full release, which is expected in the near future with expanded accessibility.
As the Tangkhul community continues to navigate global migration and cultural shifts, TuiTam stands as a hopeful bridgeโconnecting generations, restoring voices, and safeguarding a rich linguistic heritage for years to come.
