The Tangkhul Naga Longnao Delhi (Tangkhul Naga Council Delhi) expresses its anguish and unequivocally condemns the excessive use of force reportedly employed by personnel of the Assam Rifles against peaceful women protesters in the areas of New Haven, Shokvao, Finch Corner, and Shangshak on 7th June 2026.
The press statement of TNLD stated that “reports indicate that the incident resulted in serious injuries to more than twenty women and several others. The use of force against peaceful and unarmed civilians, particularly women. exercising their democratic right to peaceful assembly and expression, raises grave concerns regarding the protection of fundamental rights and the proportionality of the response.
