The Central Working Committee of Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation (TNFO) has issued a clarification against the parallel allegation from Shangkai Village Authority, Thawai Kuki Village Authority and Kuki Inpi Ukhrul district who put blame on the Tangkhul Naga Village Volunteers being carried out barbaric attack on Kuki farmers/cultivators in the field at 6:00 am of 11th February. 2026, the Central Working Committee, INFO with strong rebuttal, made this clarification once and for all.

The clarification issued by the Media/Information & Publicity Cell, CWC, TNFO stated that “the CWC, TNFO clearly asserted that allegation of the said authorities / bodies were based on false and unhealthy narratives with malicious intension of blackmailing to the Tangkhul Naga villagers who have been inoffensive for a long time.

“It clarified that, the incident of heavy gun encounter happened in the morning of 11th March, 2026 when the kuki armed militants opened fire with sophisticated arms upon the Tangkhul Naga volunteers who went up the hill range of Sharkaphung with the main intention of destroying the poppy farms, following the decision of the CWC, TNFO in its plan to undertake the War on Drugs mission. As such, claims of killing Kuki farmers is not justified and unacceptable.

“The CWC vehemently condemned the incident of hijacking 21 innocent citizens of Tangkhul Naga from Ukhrul and Kamjong district who were detained the whole night in retaliation of such incidents of armed encounters was irrational and unacceptable.

“The CWC, TNFO on other hand, sincerely expressed immense appreciation and gratefulness to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Manipur and personals of 4th Mahar Regiment for prompt action ensuring safe release of 21 Tangkhul Naga citizens and return to their respective villages. Further, the Commanding Officer of the said Regiment is requested to kindly assist returning all the mobile phones of the captives which were seized by the Kukis of Shangkai.

‘The organization also expressed denial of the earlier allegations made by UMMGPL Village Authority dated 5th March, 2026 that there were no any incidents of life threatening encounters at Mahadev and no Kuki civilian was given threat to farmers on 14 February, 2026. Moreover, the CWC of the organization affirmed that all the brutal inhuman and barbaric attacks incepting from the Litan incident till now were all perpetrated by the Kuki militants.

Factual record exposed violent and aggressive acts of Kukis such as jungle setting fire at Lungter Hill on 23rd February, 2026, brutal assault on 4 residents of Riha village on 2nd March, 2026, threatening to Village Authority of Sinakeithel Tangkhul Village by KLA on 3rd March, 2026, and incident of Kuki volunteers and armed militants terrifying innocent farmers of Sinakeithel Tangkhul village on 7:03:2026. Tangkhul Nagas are not reactive thus far.

Additionally, regarding the complaint raised byUMMGPL dated 9th March, 2026, the CWC, TNFO clarified that the women volunteers checking of vehicles at Wunghon village is not on essential commodities but deliberately on transportation of illegal drugs, intoxicant materials and other harmful weapons.

“Finally, the CWC, TNFO sternly warns that Kukis should stop repeated intimidation, perpetration and blame game to Tangkhul Naga villagers on false, fabricated and malicious narratives using media power at once. The patience of Tangkhul Naga villagers is running out” stated the statement of Media/Information & Publicity Cell, CWC, TNFO
