Khashim Vashum informed that the concerned department has agreed to arrange more sorties for the coming days.

MLA Ram Muivah has written a letter to the Director of Transport, Government of Manipur for arranging chopper service to-and-fro from Imphal to Ukhrul and Imphal to Kamjong daily. “As you are aware, owing to the unfortunate ongoing crisis on NH-202 mainly on the Mongkot Chepu and Shangkai areas, commuters, especially students who are appearing for exams, medical treatment patients, pre-book flight travelers, job appointments in various major cities, and professional employees who ply from Ukhrul to Imphal, Kamjong to Imphal daily are unable to travel by road for the last two days” stated the letter. Ram Muivah has requested the Director of Transport for arranging emergency Chopper Service to-and-fro from Imphal to Ukhrul and Imphal to Kamjong daily, if need be 3 or 4 sorties each daily until the opening of NH-202 in the interest of public service.

Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) has also requested the Director of Transport, Government of Manipur for facilitating more Imphal-Ukhrul Heli Service because of the ongoing crisis.

TMNL President, Ringphapam Kasar in his letter stated that, “It is to bring to your attention that the recent crisis at the Litan area has made travelling by Imphal-Ukhrul road not feasible. In this regard, I request you to arrange chopper service for the next few days to facilitate the safe travel of passengers from Ukhrul district to Imphal.”

Ningam Siro, President of Tangkhul People’s Organisation Imphal (TPOI) has also requested the Director of Transport, Manipur to increase the frequency of the Imphal-Ukhrul Helicopter Service and make it available on a daily basis.

“The travellers of Ukhrul and Kamjong District are facing great hardship as road travel has been severely hampered by the present law and order situation along the Imphal-Ukhrul/Kamjong road. The twice-a-week Imphal-Ukhrul Helicopter Service has become grossly inadequate to cater to the needs of the entire populace of Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts” stated the letter of TPOI.
