Sergio Gor, the US Ambassador to India visited Imphal on Friday. Chief Minister of Manipur,Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met the United States Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor at CM Secretariat, Mantripukhri in Imphal.
During the meeting, Sergio Gor said that Manipur is a stunning place and it has a stunning beauty. He is very happy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is focusing on development of North East India, which is good for a diverse country like India.
The Ambassador enquired about the number of tourists visiting Manipur. He said that there is a special bond between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, beyond the normal PM-President relationship. He said that President Trump personally cherished this relationship.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh invited the US Ambassador to the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival 2026. He said that India is a mini world and Manipur is a mini India and is home to 36 communities.
The Chief Minister highlighted tourism and other allied sectors as possible areas for development.
The Ambassador was accompanied by the U.S. Consul General in Kolkata Ms. Kathy Giles-Diaz.
The CM was accompanied by state officials led by Chief Secretary Manipur, Rajeev Singh Thakur.
