TLL & Police Seized 19 Bags of Wafer, TLL Calls For FIR Against The Company

The Tangkhul Leihsak Long (TLL) and Ukhrul Police on Friday seized 19 bags of wafers from various shops at Ukhrul Headquarters. The TLL while handing over the 11 bags of wafer to Ukhrul Police has also appealed for registering FIR against the company who manufactured the maize bread salty and spicy wafers. TLL has also urged for a complete ban of the sale of such unhygienic food in Ukhrul District.

Around 85 students were reportedly given medical treatment after they got sick from consuming the wafer “MAULI” manufactured by Global Tradelink Private Limited, Brahmaputra Industrial Park, Gauripur Amigaon, District Kamrup, Guwahati-781030.

It is learnt that, around 30 students were admitted to the Ukhrul District Hospital for medical treatment after consuming the wafer and round 55 students at Sinakeithei Village were given first aid by the nurse at Sinakeithei PHSC.

The District Administration of Ukhrul, the Ukhrul Police in consultation with the Food Safety Officer, Ukhrul will determine and dispose off the seized goods.

Since Ukhrul District Food Safety Officer (FSO) is on leave, Dr. S. Pfokrehrii will be coming and testing the seized goods. Ukhrul Police has already started investigating the incident.
