The Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) – the apex students body of northern Tangkhul has issued a public notice for closure of National Highway 202 (Ukhrul-Jessami) beginning from 28 July to 5 August 2026 for carrying out repairing works.

The notice issued by the Public and Relation Secretary, Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) stated that “the Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) hereby informs the general public, transport operators, and all concerned that repair and maintenance works will be undertaken along the Jessami-Ukhrul stretch of National Highway-202 from 28th July to 5th August 2026.

“In order to facilitate smooth execution of the works and to ensure public safety, the movement of heavy vehicles exceeding 10 tons is strictly prohibited on this route during the aforementioned period.

“This restriction is imposed to minimize inconvenience to commuters and to allow the maintenance teams to carry out their duties effectively. The cooperation of all stakeholders is earnestly requested to ensure timely completion of the project, which will benefit the entire community by improving road safety and connectivity.

“We regret the temporary inconvenience and seek your kind understanding and support” added the statement issued by RKL.

The National Highway 202 along the stretch of Ukhrul to Jessami is in dilapidated conditions. With the arrival of monsoon, the highway has become unfit for vehicular movement.
