The office of the Lower Phaibung (CHUKHREIMAI) Village Authority Council has issued a notice stating that the diversion road on NH-102A (Tadubi-Ukhrul) at Lower Phaibung will be closed from 15 July due to non maintenance of the road and for the safety of the travellers.

The notice stated that “the lower Phaibung Village Authority council (VAC) is forced to issue this notification to the general public and those in-charge for the safety of the travellers. The diversion road provided by VAC at Lower Phaibung village will be closed for all vehicles by 15 July 2025 due to negligence by the construction company and NHIDCL until further orders.”

Despite repeated requests to put pebbles on the diversion road, the company and NHIDCL pay a deaf ear, hence the road is not motorable when it rains.

Mention may be made that, with the new cutting on the existing highway (NH-102A) there was a massive mudslide due to which several houses were damaged. The demand made by the house owners to compensate for the damage on the affected house were denied by the Administration/NHIDCL.

Therefore, either NHIDCL/Contractor find a solution with the house owner and clear the existing highway or put pebbles on the diversion road at Lower Phaibung from the starting point till the highway. So that the road is motorable and to avoid further vehicle accidents. There have been several vehicle accidents on the said diversion road in the month of June.

Moreover the diversion road passes through the only school in the village puts the life of the students at risk due to the severe slippery conditions of the road.
