TNL WC Unequivocally Condemns The Excesses Committed Against The Peaceful Protesters At Kanglatongbi

The peaceful sit-in protest staged at Namdilong demanding justice for the brutal murder of six (6) Liangmai Nagas and killing of two (2) Lanka Naga villagers by the Kukis was violently attacked by the combined team of security forces led by Rapid Action Force (RAF) resulting in causing serious injury to four (4) persons at around 12PM on the 20th of August 2026.

The injured victims have been identified as (1) Wikhonliu (36), wife of Phengrongwi- who was among the six murdered by the Kukis, (2) Wilobou (33), son of Masingbou, (3) Chunwibou, son of Paojengbou, and (4) Masenwangbou (44). The peaceful and democratic protest staged by the victim families, friends, well-wishers and members of the Naga fraternity was abruptly interrupted by the brute force of the security forces by shelling tear gas canisters and lathi-charging on Thursday.

In spite of the wide demand for delivery of justice from across the sections of society, the State government is yet to come out in clear term regarding the abduction and brutal murder of six Liangmai Nagas at Leilon Vaiphei village on the 13th of May 2026. Even after the lapse of over three months, the prime murder accused Kuki Natonal Font-Presidential (KNF-P) President ST Thangboi Kigpgen, husband of Manipur’s Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, and his cadres, the Chief and local CSOs representatives of Leilon Vaiphei, remains scot-free till date. It is unfortunate that the State government remain elusive in their effort to nab the real culprits and deliver justice for the slain six Liangmai Nagas.

“The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) is unequivocal in condemning the excesses exhibited and committed by the security forces against the peaceful protesters at Namdilong on Thursday. Under no circumstances, we will never compromise with our stand and our solidarity with the victim families of Konsakhul and Lanka Naga villages, which has been under frequent attacks by the Kuki militants under the SoO pact and combing operation by Indian security forces. The Tangkhul Naga community remains steadfast with our support to the cause of the Liangmai Nagas, and resolute with the standing demands of the United Naga Council (UNC) concerning the prevailing situation in the hills of Manipur” stated the statement issued by the Media Cell, Working Committee, TNL
