TMNL Initiate Action Against Hardware Stores For Manipulation Of Weight Measures

The Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) – the Tangkhul Youth Council on Friday initiated action against two hardware stores operating in Ukhrul Headquarters for manipulation of weight measures.

According to TMNL, the two hardware stores namely Maruti Steel Hardware Stores at Viewland, Ukhrul and MK Hardware at Viewland, Ukhrul were found to be using weights less than 9 grams and 27 grams respectively. The manipulation was discovered in the routine check carried out by the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long at Ukhrul Headquarters.

Accordingly, the proprietor of Maruti Steel Hardware Store Nitish Kumar (Bihar) and Ram Ninas (Rajasthan), proprietor of MK Hardware took an undertaking admitting their guilt and responsibility for their actions.

“It is a violation of community norms through malpractice of faulty manipulation of weight measures and breach of TMNL directive and going against the market norms” stated TMNL.

The duo tendered apologised and assured that they will not repeat such behaviour in the future. The two shop owners also fully accepted any disciplinary action, penalty or corrective measures deemed appropriate by the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) in accordance with its customary or organizational norms. Their shops will remain closed for 1 month. They also promised to extend full cooperation with TMNL in any follow-up process or reconciliation effort as and when required.

The TMNL has warned all the shop owners to strictly adhere to the weights. Any manipulation of weights will be strictly monitored and necessary action will be taken against the defaulters.
