The Naga Village Guard, Eastern Command (NVG-EC) is deeply concerned over the killing of a village guard Chunjanglung Panmei (57) at Pongringlong Part-1, a Rongmei Naga village near Tupul of Noney District, Manipur by the Kuki militants on the 8 of June 2026.
In the early hour of Monday, the Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons laid an ambush against the Rongmei Naga villagers, who were gathering firewood between Pongringlong and Charoi Pondaijang at around 5AM. While the others managed to flee from the spot and managed to return home, Chunjanglung Panmei was found missing. Later, his body riddled by multiple bullets was found in the jungle nearby the site of attack. He was reportedly captured and brutally shot dead without any remorse.
In recent times, the Naga villagers of Pongringlong were attacked repeatedly by the Kuki militants backed by its cadres under Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact and narco-terrorists on the 26th of May and 5 of June 2026 respectively.
The NVG-EC vehemently condemns the heinous crime perpetrated by the Kuki militants and warns of befitting retaliation.
We deeply mourn the tragic killing of Chunjanglung Panmei and convey our condolences to the bereaved family, friends and loved ones. We pay our highest respect to the departed soul for his honour and bravery to protect and sacrifice for his beloved land and people.
May his sacrifice bring unity and victory for our land and people!
