The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Working Committee has strongly condemned the continued inhumane attacks at National Highway -202 by Kuki Narco-Terrorist leaving one dead, and one injured.
The statement of TNL Working Committee reads, “the Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long is deeply outraged and exasperated by the continued savagery and brazen criminality of Kuki narco-terrorist groups, who have shown absolute contempt for human lives. We are equally appalled by the repeated inaction and apparent indifference of the Central Security Forces deployed in the area, which has emboldened these elements to carry out attacks with impunity.
“Today, 29th May 2026, at around 11:00 AM, Kuki narco-terrorists positioned between Yaolen and Mongkot Chetpu opened indiscriminate fire on FCI trucks carrying essential commodities along National Highway -202. In this brazen attack, conducted in full view of the security forces, Mr. Nitis Kumar (57 years), a truck driver from Hooghly District, West Bengal (FCI Truck No. WB15C/2403), was shot dead. Additionally, Mr. Disingam Maringmei (35 years), a Manipur Police personnel from Litan Post, sustained grievous injuries.
“Prior to this incident, the same Kuki narco-terrorist group fired upon TM Kasom villagers who were peacefully digging graves for a burial ceremony. Video evidence of this despicable act is available and will speak for itself no matter how many times the shameless Kukis try to pin the blame elsewhere. This action clearly exposes their utter disregard for even the sanctity of death and funeral rites. At the same time, heavy firing was directed into Litan, forcing residents to flee for their lives as bullets rained down on civilian homes.
“The Working Committee strongly condemns the Central Security Forces stationed between Litan and TM Kasom for their continued silence and inaction despite witnessing these coordinated and repeated attacks. Their failure to intervene raises serious and disturbing questions about their sincerity and effectiveness. The people are now compelled to ask whether the security forces are mere spectators or, worse, complicit in allowing these atrocities to continue.
“For over three months, Kuki narco-terrorists have illegally blocked NH-202, openly extorting civilians and using the stretch between Yaolen and Mongkot Chetpu as a shooting range for their trigger-happy operations. Multiple pleas and condemnations have been issued to both the State and Central Governments to alleviate the grievances of the people, yet the situation continues to deteriorate.
“We demand that the State and Central Governments immediately fulfill their constitutional responsibility to protect innocent citizens. The Government must act decisively to clear the highway, neutralize the narco-terrorist elements, and restore normalcy. Any further loss of life resulting from this continued inaction will rest solely on the shoulders of the authorities concerned, who will be held accountable” added the statement issued by the Media Cell, Working Committee, TNL.
