The incident happened at around 11:00am in the morning. Suspected Kuki militants fired upon the approaching vehicles from the Yaolen Hill Range. It was on the same spot, that two Naga travellers namely Chinaoshang Shokwungnao of Tashar Village and Yaruingam Vashum of Kharasom CV were killed in an ambush on 18 April 2026. On 24 April, a team of police from Chingai PS were also attacked at the same spot.

Inspite of this, suspected armed Kuki militants continued to rage havoc and fear among the travellers and locals of the area.
The presence of large numbers of Central Security Forces seems to have failed in flushing out the militants who are taking shelters on the top of the Yaolen village hill range.
The Government remains lackadaisical in its approach even after the frequent attacks and threat to the people. Today’s incident is the third attack from the same place.
