NVG: Kuki Narco-Terrorists Fire Upon NVG Members

Sources informed that the Kuki militants have encroached about 5/6km inside the jurisdiction of Ringui Village, four members of NVG were injured by the indiscriminate firing.

The press statement of NVG state stated that “a team of Naga Village Guard (NVG) undertaking routine inspection of the forested area at Horei hill under Ringui village jurisdiction following reports of suspected illegal activities were indiscriminately fired upon by heavily armed Kuki narco-terrorists in collusion with the Kuki cadres under the SoO pact at around 10.30am on Tuesday. In the fateful incident, four members of NVG were injured.

“The Kukis have been cultivating poppy for many years in the forested areas under Ringui and Sirarakhong village adjoining Mullam under Ukhrul district and has been a key transit point for narco-terrorism operation in the State of Manipur.

“The NVG takes a strong exception of the violent act committed upon the real landowners and narco-terror activities being carried out in the Naga ancestral land by the illegal immigrant Kukis. It is unfortunate that the State government has been waging war-on-drug campaign against the Kukis in the hills of Manipur, but the illegal activities continue on.

“The State and Central government must seriously re-strategise and adopt concrete measures to contain the poppy cultivation and put an immediate end to narco-terrorism at all cost.

“The NVG Central Command, while defending the land and identity of indigenous people and as a responsible group, is also committed to check and control illegal poppy and any narcoterror activities in Naga ancestral land.

“Further, we reiterate our unwavering stand to resist any form of incursion in our motherland” stated the statement issued by the Media Cell, Naga Village Guard, Central Command.
