The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has successfully executed a relief mission in support of communities devastated by the violent attacks of 7th May 2026 in Kamjong District, during which residential dwellings in Choro, Wanglee and Namlee were reduced to ashes, resulting in mass displacement and profound suffering.

The press communique issued by the Media Cell of Global Naga Forum stated that “the relief consignment of food items, clothes and emergency medicines were assembled through the generous contributions of GNF members, benefactors, friends and families, along with donors from Nagaland state and abroad. The Forum extends its deepest gratitude to every donor and collective entity whose generosity enabled this relief mission for the afflicted villages.

“The GNF relief mission travelled with the relief materials from Kohima to Ukhrul on 30th May 2026. The GNF Relief Team was led by its Convenor Chuba Ozukum and Co-Convenor Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu, accompanied by members Tutu Jamir, Abel Chophy, Azo Wetsah, and Neise Casavi. The Ukhrul team was helmed by GNF General Secretary, Lakpachui Siro.

“The GNF relief team conveys its deepest appreciation to former GNFCo- Convenor, Ram Muivah, and his lady wife for their gracious hospitality in hosting the team at Ukhrul and for attending meticulously to the team’s logistical and personal needs. The GNF held a solidarity meeting with the Tangkhul Naga Long, the Tangkhul Shanao Long, and other community leaders.

“On 31st May 2026, the relief materials were transported by the GNF General Secretary Ino. Lakpachui Siro, along with local volunteers to Choro Village in Kamjong District. The relief materials were handed over to the village leaders gathered outside Choro Church, while the two other affected villages were informed to retrieve their respective shares of relief from Choro Village. The GNF hopes the State Government would expedite compensation and rehabilitation measures. The relief mission concluded with a resolute expression of solidarity and encouragement extended to the affected communities. The Global Naga Forum reaffirmed its unwavering commitment, alongside that of the broader Naga community, to stand in steadfast alliance with the victims during this grievous hour and to champion their recovery and rehabilitation” added the statement of Media Cell, Global Naga Forum.
