The Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) has expressed condemnation against targeted attacks on Naga civilians at the strongest term.
The press release stated “the Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) is shocked and infuriated by the violence attack carried out on innocent Naga travellers along National Highway 202 near T.M. Kasom village on the Ukhrul-Imphal road killing two Naga individuals and caused many casualties on the afternoon of 18 April 2026 at approximately 2:35 PM.
“As per reports, suspected Kuki militant elements targeted unarmed Naga civilians who were on their way from Imphal to Ukhrul. The attack resulted in the loss of innocent lives, casualties and caused significant damage to vehicles. Such acts of violence against Naga civilians are utterly unacceptable and represent a grave violation of humanity, dignity and the rule of law.
“The CNPO unequivocally denounces and condemns such intentional targeted attacks on Naga civilians at the strongest term.
“At this hour of grief, the CNPO stands in unwavering solidarity with the victims and their families and extends deepest condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident. We also pray for the speedy and full recovery of those who have been injured.
“The CNPO reiterates its firm commitment to peace, harmony as well as defending and protection of innocent lives” stated the statement issued by the Information Cell, CNPO.
