Women’s organisations from conflict affected villages of Sharkaphung, Litan, Laho, TM. Kasom, Thoyee and Katho area have accused the State and Central Security Forces of biased handling of the ongoing situation.

The joint statement stated “we would like to express our strong condemnation and deep dissatisfaction with the biased handling of the ongoing situation by the Central and State security forces.

“While expressing our heartfelt condolences for the fallen BSF jawan, we would also like to clearly present the facts to the public so that the ground realities are known to all.

“On 12th April 2026, both the Kukis and Tangkhul Nagas were informed by the BSF that if any party engaged in firing, retaliatory action and operations would be carried out. However, on 13th April 2026, Kuki militants fired multiple rounds, yet no action was taken. No operation was conducted, despite the militants being in close proximity to the BSF being deployed in the area.

“Furthermore, on 14th April 2026, Kuki militants from Shangkai and Zalenbung attacked Thoyee village. Despite these incidents, no action has been observed from the BSF.

“In light of such serious lapses, we are compelled to question whether there is any form of collusion, as the Central and State security forces appears to be allowing the Kuki militants a free hand, while restricting our side.

“If law and order continue to be handled in this manner, we will have no option but to declare non-cooperation with the Central and State security forces deployed in these conflict-prone and volatile areas. We have exercised restraint by ensuring that our Village Volunteers do not engage in any firing, and not a single bullet has been fired from our side.

“Now that the law enforcing agencies have not taken any visible action against the Kuki militants and appears to be allowing them to act freely, we have lost hope in receiving fair justice. Moreover, the Central and State security forces will be held accountable for any untoward incidents that may arise due to their failure to perform their duties diligently and uphold their commitments” stated the statement jointly issued by Convenor of Katho Women Committee, Secretary of Laho Shanao Long, Chairperson of Sharkaphung Shanao Long, Secretary of Litan Shanao Long, President of Roudei (T.M. Kasom) Shanao Long and Chairperson of Thoyee Shanao Long.
