On 7th October 2025, a heavy rainfall accompanied by a cloudburst occurred at Napitam Hilltop, under the Chingai–Mungreitha Range, causing severe damage to the downstream areas, including the washing away of bridge PWD Road and the downstream paddyfields.

Yangmi Ruivah, Chairman of Chingai Village informed Rural Post that “approximately 20 to 30 families have been affected by the flash floods.” Among them, the most grievously affected families whose paddy fields have been completely destroyed are as follows:

1. NK. Phamila

2. M. Wonthingla

3. HAS. Leishisan

4. R. Ruichumnao

6. NK. Shivamthei

“The floodwaters have completely destroyed the standing paddy crops, leading to total loss of harvest. Furthermore, the Chingai Block Headquarters PWD Road Bridge has been washed away, resulting in complete disruption of connectivity between the Block Headquarters and neighbouring villages” added Yangmi Ruivah.

This press release is issued for public information, especially for travellers and commuters.
