NPCB & ATMA Organise Free Eye Checkup And Cataract Surgery

The National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) State Health Society, District Health Society Ukhrul, and the All Tangkhul Medicos Association (ATMA) organised Free Eye Checkup And Cataract Surgery at District Hospital Ukhrul.

The initiative began with screening of patients from September 2 to 22, and surgeries commenced on September 23 and will continue until September 25.

Dr. Yuithingla Vashum, President of ATMA informed that “32 patients registered for surgery, many of whom were elderly. Of these, 9 patients, mostly octogenarians above 86 years of age, successfully underwent cataract surgery on Tuesday and 23 patients were successfully operated on Wednesday.”

The ATMA also distributed walking sticks and the NPCB State Health Society Manipur provided spectacles (black goggles) to the patients.
