The Eastern Liangmai Naga Chief Chairman Association (ELNCCA) unequivocally condemns the barbaric, unprovoked attacks and arson carried out by a combined force of KNF(P), KRA and KNF(N) cadres on Chawangkining village on September 15 and 16, 2026, over two consecutive days.
At a time when the people of Manipur are yearning for peace and normalcy, such attacks on innocent civilians are outrageous and unacceptable. The involvement of Kuki armed groups operating under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact constitutes a serious violation of the SoO ground rules and its very spirit. A peace framework must not be allowed to become a shield for violence against civilians. We strongly urge the Government of India to abrogate the SoO agreement signed with Kuki militant groups and take immediate decisive action against those responsible and ensure accountability under the law.
The ELNCCA further calls for strengthened and sustained security deployment in vulnerable Naga areas to prevent further attacks and protect innocent civilians. The safety and security of every citizen must remain the foremost responsibility of the State. The ELNCCA also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Central Para-Forces, particularly the CRPF and its COBRA unit, for their timely intervention, courage and dedicated efforts in protecting the lives of the villagers of Chawangkining and Tapon.
The people of Manipur have suffered enough. The ELNCCA appeals to all peace-loving citizens of this country to condemn violence against civilians and urges the authorities to act firmly to uphold the rule of law, ensure justice, protect vulnerable communities and restore lasting peace and normalcy in Manipur.
