The Global Vectra Helicorp, operating under Manipur Heli Services has temporarily suspended its operations in Manipur with effect from 21 April 2026 due to operational reasons.

The Imphal Airport posted “We regret any inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Further updates regarding the resumption of services will be communicated in due course.”

When the service is in high demand due to the unrest and the National Highway blockade and shutdown in Manipur, the sudden and temporary suspension of heli services operation is going to have a detrimental impact on travellers especially from the hills. Many have been using this heli service for emergency purposes, and many of those who could not avail this service due to different reasons including none availability of seats had ended up in dire situations.

In the context of Ukhrul, the frequent attacks by armed militants at the highway around Litan has been a cause for constant fear to the people and the helicopter sorties in addition to its regular Mondays and Saturdays by the Transport department have been of much help to the people.

Many have raised concern on the sudden announcement and temporary suspension of heli services, when it is needed the most. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Department of Transport, Government of Manipur must give a clear reason why such suspension at this time of turmoil?
