TNFO Outrightly Rejects "Ultimatum" Issued By Kuki CSO Working Committee; Instead Gives 72 Hours To Withdraw Their Ultimatum

The Central Working Committee of Tangkhul Naga Foothills’ Association (TNFO) has outrightly rejected the “Ultimatum” issued by the Kuki CSO Working Committee Ukhrul and has given 72 hours time to withdraw their ultimatum unconditionally if the Kukis want to live peacefully and get along with the Tangkhul or Naga as a whole. TNFO has also cautioned that such threats, veiled warnings and attempts to intimidate their landlord will not go unquestioned.

In a rebuttal statement issued by the Media/Information & Publicity of CWC, TNFO stated that “we outrightly reject the ultimatum issued by the Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul, Ref No. WC/PR19/04/26 dated 07/04/2026. Such threats, veiled warnings, and attempts to intimidate their landlord will not go unquestioned.

“Let it be absolutely clear to the state and squarely to the central government ground realities cannot be twisted to fit a one-sided narrative. The situation did not arise in isolation, and selectively portraying events while ignoring repeated provocations and actions on the ground is nothing but deliberate distortion. Such instigating violence has continued since the 1990s, and it must end now.

“Furthermore, the cycle of violence since 7th February 2026 was set in motion by Kuki SoO militant elements, yet the narrative persistently frames them only as victims. This selective portrayal ignores the realities on the ground. Continued provocation toward the Tangkhul Nagas who hold rightful ownership of the land where kuki refugees are being accommodated is both irresponsible and dangerous, and risks worsening an already fragile situation.

“Issuing ultimatums, speaking and threatening of “action” does not establish moral authority against your landlord nor create any legal authority. Instead, it risks voiding your legal right to staying in the rented premises. Enough consideration has been given on humanitarian grounds.

“Therefore, you are hereby given 72 hours time to withdraw your ultimatum unconditionally if you want to live peacefully and get along with the Tangkhul or Naga as a whole. Failure to comply within the stipulated time may lead to unforeseen consequences, for which the Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul will be held solely responsible” added the statement issued by the Media/Information & Publicity of CWC, TNFO.
