“Iwui Ningli Bichar Sadalei” one of the original and sassy songs of Thangmeiso Shinglai has once again gone viral and captured the ears of music lovers. Catchy hooks, playful attitude and flirty lyrics- it is a song based on a real life incident of the artist.

Thangmeiso Shinglai recalled why he wrote the song in the early 2000s. Speaking to Rural Post, Shinglai stated “It was a clear beautiful morning, I had an appointment to help one of my friends to run his errand. So, I kick started my bike, my 100CC Hero Honda and drove from Langol to Chingmeirong, Imphal. I knocked on the door, and a beautiful lady with long hair opened the door with a million dollar smile. She must have just woken up from her sleep because she was wearing a wrap around with her shoulder bare.”

“She served very good tea and her smiles captivated my thoughts. I wish I could stay longer but my friend and I had to go for work. And her smiles lingered with me the whole day. Even to this day, I can still remember her smile vividly. She was a beauty with a million dollar smiles” added Thangmeiso Shinglai.

And today in 2025, the NOT FUNNY band is bringing back the song alive among the music lovers. The cover by Not Funny has gone viral and enthralled music lovers young and old. Frontman of Not Funny, Sorinthing Raihing informed Rural Post, “it’s our way of honoring our roots, keeping the spirit of those songs alive, and sharing Tangkhul music with a wider audience, while still bringing it into our own sound as Not Funny”

“Each of us came from different bands, but music pulled us together. What started as casual jams and random gig encounters soon turned into a strong bond. We realized we shared the same drive to create music that feels honest, raw, and alive. We’re chasing the independent music road together carving our own space” added Sorinthing Raihing.

Not Funny, is an indie rock band from Ukhrul, Manipur. The band members are SP Wotss on drums, Kachuimi Luithui on bass, Wungramthing on vocals , and Soringthing Raihing on guitar.
