Ukhrul Poppy Destruction Enters Day 2

The Second Phase of destruction of illegal poppy cultivation at LM Block and Yaolen Chepu and Lamlai Chingphei Area under Ukhrul District enters its second day.

220 acres of poppy cultivation have been destroyed by the combined team in two days.

The combined team of Police, Forest Department, BSF, Assam Rifles and NAB are carrying out destruction of Illegal poppy cultivation at two different locations at Ukhrul District. The exercise started on 16 December 2025 and will wind up on 20 December 2025.

As part of the poppy destruction drive, on 17 December 2025, a total of 55 acres were destroyed and 5 huts used by the poppy cultivators were burnt by the combined team of District Police, Forest Department, 6th Manipur Rifles and 18 Assam Rifles.

In the Yaolen Chepu & Lamlai Chingphei Area- a total of 85 acres were destroyed and 11 huts used by the poppy cultivators were burnt by the combined team of District Police, BSF, Forest Department and NAB.

Ukhrul Police informed that FIR cases will be taken up accordingly for both the locations. The two teams will continue to carry out the poppy destruction drives till Saturday.
