Ukhrul: Destruction Of Poppy Cultivation At 2 Locations

Destruction of illegal poppy cultivation was carried out at two different locations at Ukhrul District by the combine team of Police, Forest Department, BSF, Assam Rifles and NAB.

A team comprising of District Police, Forest Department, Border Security Forces and NAB carried out destruction of poppy cultivation at Yaolen- Lamlai Chingphei area. The combine team destroyed 48 acres of poppy plantation and burnt 2 huts used by the poppy cultivators.

Another team comprising of District Police, Forest Department, 6th Manipur Rifles and 18 Assam Rifles carried out destruction of poppy plantation at LM Block area. The team destroyed 32 acres of poppy plantation and 3 huts.

Ukhrul Police informed that FIR will be registered accordingly. Both the teams will continue the poppy destruction drive till Saturday.
