Ukhrul Forest Division Organise 3 Days Workshop On Photography, Video & Reel Making

The Ukhrul Forest Division, Government of Manipur under RAMP Scheme organised Three Days Capacity Building Workshops on Photography, Videography and Reels Making at the office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Ukhrul Forest Division from 18th to 20th September, 2025.

A total of 45 participants comprising 19 Male and 26 Female attended the training. The participants range from higher secondary and college students, entrepreneurs, women representatives from Tangkhul Shanao Long.

​DFO of Ukhrul, Laishram Gitla stated that the initiative was designed not only to provide skills that will help generate income but also to strengthen community participation in conservation of forest and reduce livelihood dependency on forest in Ukhrul district.

Chermishan ASP, Range Forest Officer, HQ Ukhrul, expressed her delight at the enthusiasm shown by the youth in photography and videography training. She noted that Visual content creator Job prospects are steadily growing and the market for digital content is expanding rapidly. She also noted that it will be a powerful tool for promoting eco-tourism in Ukhrul-showcasing the region’s natural beauty, encouraging tourist photography and providing instant visual impact. She hoped the training will pave a way for the participants to take up the Photography and videography as a professional course in the future.

Resource person Soraisam Bigyananda of Soraisam Photography Studio, on the first day imparted training on understanding the Basic Photography and Videography and the different types of equipment to be used. Fundamental concepts like composition (e.g., the Rule of Thirds), lighting (best practices), technical skills (like camera operation), and post-production basics were shared in the session.

Practical tips such as using simple backgrounds for videos and focusing on timing and quick decisions for photography, while acknowledging that videography requires more detailed planning and a greater emphasis on post-production. Practical session on the second day, with the each participant practically displaying the basic they have learned in the previous day.

At the end of the training Soraisam Bigyananda stated that patience , regular practice and reviewing the work to identify areas for improvement is the key to refining ones art.
