The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul (WCKCSOS) has condemned the local MLA, accusing him of bias display in the Litan area, and thereby, ignoring the plight of the minority Kuki community in Ukhrul.

In a statement issued by the Department of Information and Media WCKCSOS stated that “we strongly condemn the blatant bias displayed by the local MLA in the Litan area, exposing a disturbing pattern of favoritism toward the Tangkhul community while ignoring the plight of the minority Kuki Community in Ukhrul.

“Following the Sinakeithei-Leplen incident on 23/02/2026, the MLA visited Sinakeithei and openly expressed solidarity with the Tangkhul community. However, in the aftermath of the 11/03/2026 killings-where one of the deceased was from his own constituency-and amid a shutdown called by the Kuki community, he promptly arranged a chopper service on 12/03/2026 (D.O No/TRANS/UkI/17/21) for the Tangkhul community. This action has been widely perceived as disregarding the suffering of the Kuki community.

“This selective action proves that he serves only his own community, ignoring the broader responsibilities of a legislator. Such partiality is unacceptable, and it undermines public trust, safety, and social cohesion.

“We demand that the MLA be held accountable for this discriminatory approach and immediately take steps to assist all affected communities, not just those from his own ethnic group. Leadership without fairness and inclusivity is a betrayal of the public trust” stated the statement issued by the Department of Information and Media WCKCSOS.
