The Joint Tribes Women’s Association (JTWA), a conglomeration of Inpui Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme from Tamenglong District, Manipur on Tuesday held a protest demanding immediate and safe release of hostages held by Kuki militants.
Ramningle Pame, Convenor of JTWA stated that “the joint tribe women, a combined group of Zeliangrong, Zeme, Longmei and Riangmei, all the womenfolk from surrounding areas, we are gathered here today for our brothers who were kidnapped on 13th May, 2026. Till now, we don’t know their whereabouts. So, we demand the Government of India, the Government of Manipur to immediately release the innocent civilians, our pastors, our reverends and our dear brothers.”
Jeijei Newme, President of Zemepui Baudi Tamenglong and General Secretary of JTWA stated that “we are protesting here because our brothers, our fathers and our religious leaders have been kidnapped by the Kuki Militants and they have not been released till date after five to six days and we are not satisfied, we are very hurt and we want to register our dissent to the government and to also the concerned authorities to release all the hostages safe and sound at the earliest because we cannot tolerate it anymore. We have waited for so long, we want justice and to release all the hostages safe and sound.”
