Speech by the new Longvibu of the Naga Army, Lieutenant General A. Raman -MM, MC on the occasion of the felicitation program held on the 29th July, 2026 at Mt. Horeb Camp.
“Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! On this auspicious day, with thanksgiving to the Almighty God, I extend my revolutionary salute to all my countrymen. In reverence to our pioneers, the brave compatriots who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, and to the brave soldiers of the nation who continue to bear this responsibility with pride and honour, I accept the responsibility of leading the Naga Army with great honour and humility.
“In my 45 years of service to the nation, the Lord God has been gracious to me. Thus far, He has led me to this very day according to His will. Today, we are once again reminded to reflect on the journey of our national movement: Whenever we go against the will of God, and when unrighteousness and injustice become the norm of the day, the nation stumbles, divisions multiply, and fratricide follows. Our Naga history is a testament to the relationship between man and God. The nation has gone through many seasons – making the right decision at the right time, enduring betrayal by our oppressors, and even betrayal by our own brethren. Despite all these, the nation has survived to this day as a testament to God’s grace.
“When the nation strayed from the purpose of God, we faced the consequence of sin, division, betrayal and fratricide. As a soldier, I have fought numerous battles against our enemies, and I am neither afraid nor weary of facing them. However, I am deeply grieved by the fraternal strife among ourselves. We must repent and recommit ourselves to the will of God if we are to save the nation from doom.
“The sovereign existence of the Naga nation is unquestionable; It is a sacred gift from God. When the sanctity of this sacred gift is compromised and surrendered to the pressure of our adversaries, the Naga patriots cannot remain idle and indifferent. The fate of the nation is before us; whether we will rise to embrace this sacred gift from God, or remain in bondage.
“The political situation we face today demands that we rise once again. The Government of India (Gol) has betrayed the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015 (FA), it has imposed its might to suppress our rights. Therefore, the spirit of Ceasefire Agreement has ceased to exist from the day the Gol served the three-month ultimatum (August to October, 2019) to the Nagas with the condition that there would be no more talks for separate flag and separate constitution for the Nagas. The Indo-Naga peace talks have dragged on for more than 28 years. A generation has passed, and the dead have long since decayed. We can now discern whether the peace talks have delivered the justice the Nagas deserved or whether they have weakened and drained the spirit of Naga nationalism. Since the inception of the Ceasefire Agreement on 1 August 1997, the Indian security forces, in violation of the Ceasefire Agreement, have killed hundreds of Naga Army personnel while covering up their action with lies upon lies. Such an act of killing the Naga Army personnel during the peace talks between two entities is not justifiable under any circumstance.
“When the peaceful political dialogue is subjected to force and might rather than justice and trust, the revolutionary patriots must rise up to continue the political as well as violent armed resistance to safeguard the sovereign existence of the Naga nation. And when the leadership at Hebron succumbs to the pressure of our adversaries, the revolutionary patriots must rise up without fear to reclaim the sacred gift from God the sovereign existence of the Naga nation. We have to be ever guarded, for the destiny of the nation is yet to be reached.
“I also take this opportunity to clarify the assassination of Mr. Tirong Aboh, MLA of Arunachal Pradesh. The order came directly from the then Longvibu, General Anthony Ningkhan Shimray. But after carrying out the order, General Anthony Ningkhan Shimray instead of confronting the situation, and standing by his decision on national cause, General Anthony Ningkhan Shimray chose to place the blame solely on those compliant soldiers. The integrity of the formation and the chain of command in the Naga Army has been in question ever since.
“Today, our adversaries and our own Naga brethren who have compromised and surrendered to them have surrounded us on all fronts to destroy us. Our adversaries, in collusion with our own Naga brethren who have compromised and yielded to their pressure are ceaselessly conspiring to bring the Naga political issue to an end within the Union and Constitution of India, and to destroy the last bastion of Naga nationalism. We question our brethren who have yielded to our adversaries and working in collusion with them to destroy us, whether they are certain that we are working against the Naga national principle or are they knowingly trying to suppress us who are firmly standing for the national cause which is on the brink of annihilation? The time is now to decide.
“Brave soldiers and beloved Nagas, let us not be discouraged by the might of our adversaries. Rather, let us fear the Lord God, who has power over both body and soul. For the Lord God is righteous, and the battle belongs to Him. Let us stand on the Lord’s side, and victory shall be ours. Onto Victory!
