The Sinakeithei Village Authority has called upon the concerned civil administration and security forces to take immediate action, conduct a thorough investigation, and ensure adequate protection to prevent further escalation.

In a press releases issued by the Sinakeithei Village Authority stated that “today, 23rd February 2026, at approximately 12:30 PM, a serious and alarming incident occurred within the territorial jurisdiction of Sinakeithei Village.

“Arsonists travelling in a white Bolero vehicle, coming from the Leplen side towards Lapharak (Kuki Village), stopped along the way and deliberately set fire to portions of the Lungter Hill Range under Sinakeithei Village territorial jurisdiction.

“The Sinakeithei Village Authority views the arson of the Lungter Hill Range not as an isolated act, but as a calculated strategy. It appears that the fire was intentionally set to create confusion and to take advantage of the situation for their movement and activities in and around the area.

“On the same day, a farmer of Sinakeithei Village, Mr. Aseng Awungshi was abducted at the Lungter foothills by the Kuki armed group. He was forcibly taken to the upstream jungle. Mr. Aseng Awungshi was going to his field which is within the Sinakeithei territorial area. He was questioned why he was going to his field. He was asked many questions regarding the presence of police, other security forces etc. in the village. Further he was warned not to move freely in the area.

“Further, during the same day, the Kuki armed group fired upon Mr. Kingson Muivah while he was fleeing after being ordered to stop. The firing was carried out as he attempted to escape, creating grave danger to his life and causing widespread panic among villagers. These things happened within the Sinakeithei territorial jurisdiction.

“All these acts have taken place within the jurisdiction of Sinakeithei Village. The Sinakeithei Village Authority strongly condemns these acts of arson, attempted murder, abduction, and firing upon unarmed civilians. Such actions pose a direct threat to the safety, security, and peaceful existence of our community.

“We urgently call upon the concerned civil administration and security forces to take immediate action, conduct a thorough investigation, and ensure adequate protection to prevent further escalation.”

“The Sinakeithei Village Authority remains steadfast in safeguarding the lives, land, and dignity of its people” added the press release.
