PCCF & ACS (TCI & TAH) Reviews Projects at CCPur & Pherzawl Districts

PCCF & HoFF and Additional Chief Secretary (TCI) & Tribal Affairs & Hills, Anurag Bajpai (IFS), on Saturday reviewed the progress of schemes and projects of Department of TCI, Forests and Tribal Affairs & Hills being implemented at Churachandpur and Pherzawl Districts.

In a meeting held today at DC Churachandpur office, Bajpai emphasized the need to give a boost to economic activities in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts. He further suggested to encourage entrepreneurs to use local available raw materials and to bring convergence in the programme implemented by the departments of TCI, Forests and TA & Hills in the two hill districts.

The meeting was attended by Smt. Gaithaolu Thaimei, Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial-II), Thangboi Gangte, ADM (CcPUR), S T Rithung Anal, Joint Secretary (TA & H), Abhijit K V, Divisional Forest Officer, CCPur, Joel Haokip, ADM (Pherzawl), Vidyamari Sridhar, SDO (CcPUR), Ms. S L Niangthianhoi, Divisional Forest Officer, Pherzawl, Ms. Lalthazam, CEO, CCPur Autonomous District Council, Dr. R A Ransing, Deputy Secretary (TA & H), Ms. Valli N, Deputy Conservator of Forests (A&P), General Manager (DIC), Project Manager (Handloom & Textiles) among other officers.

Bajpai reviewed the implementation of schemes of DAJGUA, construction of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), Projects under grants of 15th FC, State Finance Commission, and various programmes being undertaken by Churachandpur Autonomous District Council (ADC) in case of Tribal Affairs & Hills department, progress of development of Industrial Estate at CcPur. Allotment of land for Industrial Estate at Pherzawl, Implementation of schemes of PM Vishwakarma, PMEGP and PMFME, and project of development of handloom and textiles clusters at CcPUR and Pherzawl in case of department of Textiles, Commerce & Industries (TCI), massive bamboo plantations as industrial species in forest blanks, marketing of bamboo rhizomes, and upgradation of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) into Micro and Small Enterprises by formation of consortiums and their integration in to the industrial estates in respect of Forest Department.

ADM (CcPUR) was advised to achieve saturation in respect of welfare schemes during the ongoing DAJGUA IEC campaign. ADM (Pherzawl) was specifically asked to arrange for land for development of an Industrial Estate at Pherzawl. Both DFOs were asked to cover all villages in their Divisions under VDVK Programme. In Handloom cluster, the need of providing 213 looms and subsidized yarns under CM Yarn Scheme was specifically noted.

Further, Bajpai also reviewed specific forestry operations under State Plan, CAMPA, Green India Mission (GIM) and National Bamboo Mission in respect of CcPUR and Pherzawl Divisions at the makeshift office of DFO CcPur, since the original office was completely burnt and damaged during the violence. The readiness of the two Divisions for Van Mahotsav 2025 and Ek Ped Maa Ke naam (EPMKN) 2.0 was also reviewed. Later, material to generate livelihood under GIM was also distributed to JFMCs and VDVKs at Synod Hall.

Thereafter, the official team inspected Vana Nursery, condition of District Industries Centre, under development CcPur Industrial Estate, Handloom cluster at Saikot (Koite Village) and VDVK outlet at Tuibong. At CcPur Industrial Estate, the encroachment and damage to the newly constructed Administrative Block was observed. Specific instructions were issued to District Administration and GM (DIC) to look into encroachment issues and quick repair of Administrative Block. GM (DIC) and Project Manager (HT) were directed to shift in Administrative Block at the earliest for better control of Industrial Estate. The Work shed constructed by MFICL may be immediately cleaned and developed into Common Facility Centre (CFC) for food processing Micro Enterprises and VDVKs.
