A One Day Awareness Programme on HIV/AIDS was organised today, the 27th May 2026 at Kasomtang Community Hall, Ukhrul by Ukhrul DMMU, Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) in collaboration with the Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS).
The programme began with a keynote address by Mr. Horeisung Khamrang, District Mission Manager, Ukhrul MSRLM. In his address, he gave gratitude to the SHG members for their physical presence and also highlighted the importance of creating awareness on HIV/AIDS.
The technical session was conducted by Dr. Yuithingla Vashum, District AIDS Control Officer, DAPCU/MACS, Ukhrul & Kamjong. During the session, she provided detailed information on HIV/AIDS, including its causes, modes of transmission, prevention, treatment and the importance of early testing and awareness. She also encouraged the participants to undergo HIV testing and emphasized the need to eliminate stigma and misconceptions related to HIV/AIDS.
As part of the programme, HIV testing was also conducted by the medical team led by Dr. Yuithingla Vashum.
The programme was attended by around 70 Self Help Group (SHG) members under the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) and Staff of Ukhrul, MSRLM. The active participation and interaction of the attendees contributed greatly to the success of the programme.
Overall, the awareness programme concluded successfully with positive participation and increased awareness among the participants regarding HIV/AIDS prevention, testing and community support.
