Ukhrul bids emotional farewell to Asish Das (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul in an affectionate way at DRDA Hall on Wednesday.

“I had a pleasant stay at Ukhrul. Though it was short, it was a good stay. Ukhrul has lots of potential and talents. If we tap judiciously, Ukhrul can become a hot destination for tourists in the years to come. I have not compromised with the company or anybody when it comes to the development of Ukhrul. Be it the National Highway or the Shirui Heritage Project” stated Asish Das.

Asish Das (IAS) was appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul District on 28 January 2025. On 22 May 2026, he was transferred and posted as Joint Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur.

Meanwhile, Uppuluri Chaitanya (IAS) presently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Kakching, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul.

As Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das has focused on grassroot governance, infrastructure development and community engagement. The “Unlocking Ukhrul Model” is a brainchild launched by Asish Das, an ambitious community-led development initiative.

The farewell programme was attended by DLOs and leaders from Tangkhul CSOs.
