Mongkot Chepu Village Authority: Three Months of Terror, Zero Accountability

In continued neglect and partiality, the Village Authority of Mongkot Chepu hereby announces the immediate suspension of all cooperation with government agencies, including central security forces until a decisive, impartial, and result-oriented operation is carried out against militant strongholds at Leingangching, Litan Sareikhong, and Sikibung.

The press statement of Mongkot Chepu Village Authority stated that “for nearly three months, Mongkot Chepu has endured relentless and calculated firing from Tangkhul militants entrenched at Leingangching, the vicinity of Litan Police Station, and Sikibung, despite the deployment of one full company of BSF. The strategic placement of militant bunkers has effectively turned the village into a live target, with civilian homes lying well within direct firing range.

“Blatant attacks on unarmed civilians-including women and children-have become the norm. Incidents such as the assault on Indira Gandhi Hill Flower School (24th March), the village chief’s residence (19th April), and churchgoers (20th April 2026) reflect the unchecked violence. The killing of Constable Mithun Mandal on 10th April 2026, due to stray bullets from Tangkhul militants based at Sikibung, further exposes the indiscriminate nature of these attacks.

“The latest firing on 30th April 2026, between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM, underscores the continued impunity.

“What is deeply disturbing is not just the continued aggression, but the deafening silence and visible inaction of the authorities. The State’s failure to assert control-even after partial operations-has emboldened the perpetrators while reducing the villagers to prisoners within their own homes. This is not mere inefficiency; it reflects a dangerous pattern of selective response and tacit complicity.

“The operation conducted on 30th April, 2026 at Mongkot as a one-sided exercise, glaringly indifferent to the sustained threats faced by the village.

“Such actions only deepen mistrust and reinforce perceptions of bias in the State’s approach.

“In strong condemnation of this continued neglect and partiality, the Village Authority of Mongkot Chepu hereby announces the immediate suspension of all cooperation with government agencies, including central security forces until a decisive, impartial, and result-oriented operation is carried out against militant strongholds at Leingangching, Litan Sareikhong, and Sikibung.

“The people of Mongkot Chepu refuse to remain silent victims in the face of systemic failure and selective justice” added the statement issued by the Village Authority of Mongkot Chepu
