The All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organisation (AMMSO-HQ) strongly condemned the threats, intimidation and attempted kidnapping of its leaders, Umar MK and Roshan Sheikh, following their participation in a rally organised by COCOMI today, 31 October 2026, from Tiddim Ground to Thau Ground, Imphal.

The press release of AMMSO reads, “the incident occurred along DM College Road, near Thau Ground, where the COCOMI public meeting was held. While AMMSO-HQ President In-Charge Umar MK, Roshan Sheikh and other representatives were returning from the rally, they were threatened and subjected to an attempted kidnapping by certain individuals.

“The complainant identifies the perpetrators as Thoubalmayum Manoj, Khulakpam Khurshid Alam, Md Safiullah, Nadhrul Muneer, Aziz and others, along with a few unidentified individuals. These allegations are serious and warrant immediate investigation by the concerned authorities.

“AMMSO-HQ considers this incident extremely alarming. Threatening individuals and attempting to abduct them constitute grave violations of personal safety, civil liberties and the rule of law. No individual or organisation should face intimidation, threats or physical danger for participating in a peaceful public rally or expressing their views. AMMSO particularly concerned that this alleged incident occurred while our representatives were returning from a public rally. Any attempt to silence, intimidate or harm individuals through threats or violence is unacceptable and must not be tolerated in a democratic society.”

AMMSO-HQ therefore demands that the concerned police authorities:

1. Conduct an immediate, impartial and thorough investigation into the incident.

2. Identify and question all individuals involved, including those named in the complaint and any unidentified accomplices, and take immediate legal action, including arrest where warranted by the investigation.

3. Initiate appropriate legal proceedings against anyone found responsible, in accordance with the law.

4. Ensure the safety and security of the complainants and prevent any further threats, intimidation or harassment.

“We urge the authorities to treat this complaint with the seriousness it deserves, take prompt action to establish the facts and ensure justice.

“AMMSO-HQ stands firmly with its leaders and representatives and reiterates its commitment to peace-ful democratic participation, mutual respect and the protection of the rights and dignity of every individual” stated the press statement issued by BM Warish Ahamed, Information & Publicity Secretary AMMSO H/Q
