The 1st All Naga Volleyball Championship 2026, organised by the Tangkhul Naga Society Delhi (TNSD) in remembrance of Late Grinder Muivah, concluded today, 5 September 2026, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
The four-day event commenced on 2 September with a conference held at Shankarlal Auditorium, University of Delhi, North Campus, on the theme, “From Playground to Nation Building: The Role of Sports in Shaping Naga Society.” The conference was followed by the volleyball championship, which was played over the next three days at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The championship saw the participation of 16 teams, with 11 teams competing in the men’s category and five in the women’s category. Over the course of the tournament, the teams battled through a series of competitive matches for a place in the finals.
In the men’s final, TKLD faced Gurgaon Naga Boys, with Gurgaon Naga Boys claiming the championship title after defeating TKLD. The Maring team finished third after overcoming the Poumai team in the third-place playoff.
In the women’s final, TKLD and the Zeme team put up a closely contested battle, with Zeme securing the championship title. In the third-place playoff, Anal defeated Poumai to finish third.
The closing ceremony commenced with the Presidential Address and Presentation by Kahorngam Zimik. This was followed by a special musical performance by Eno Bem Khuvung, singer and songwriter. Rev. Fr. Joseph M. Thohrii, Research Scholar, School of Social Sciences, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR, delivered a short address.
The ceremony was hosted by Th. Kolunii Shuru and Hom Singli Mayirnao and began with the singing of Amazing Grace, followed by the opening prayer by Yurmi Chamroy, Home Missionary, Tangkhul Baptist Church Delhi (TBCD).
The Benediction was given by Pastor Caleb M. Pamei of the Zeliangrong Christian Fellowship, Delhi, followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by Wungram Ngalung, Vice President, TNSD.
