After more than 4 months of Inter-District Economic Blockade along the National Highways, the United Naga Council has decided to suspend the economic blockade.
On 17 May 2026, The United Naga Council (UNC) made a public statement that it will launch an Inter-District Economic Blockade along the National Highways in the Naga areas in Manipur with immediate effect until the safe rescue and release of the Naga hostages.
The inter-district economic blockade along the National Highways got more intensified from 1:00AM of 9th September, 2026.
On 26 September 2026, the UNC announced that it had suspended the Inter-District Economic Blockade along the National Highways.
The Public Notification issued by United Naga Council dated 26 September 2026 stated that “this is for general information of all concerned that, upon the agreement arrived at in the tripartite talks held amongst the Government of Manipur, the Government of India, and the United Naga Council (UNC) in Guwahati on September 26, 2026, the council hereby announces the suspension of the ongoing economic blockade with effect from 6:00PM of September 26, 2026.”
“The United Naga Council appreciates the cooperation and solidarity extended by all concerned during the course of the agitation” stated the statement issued by NG. Lorho, President, UNC.
