The Working Committee of TNL has alleged the Kuki Militants of demolishing the Bailey Bridge across the Namban River connecting Kamjong to Sahamphung Sub-Division by a powerful explosive on the intervening night of 21 and 22 July 2026.

The press communique issued by the Media Cell, Working Committee, TNL stated that “the Bailey Bridge across the Namban River connecting Kamjong to Sahamphung Sub-Division via Chatric Khullen and Chattric Khunou villages has been demolished by powerful explosive on the intervening night of 21 and 22nd of July 2026 by the Kuki narco-terrorists in collusion with the Kuki National Army-Burma (KΝΑ-Β).

“In the early hours of Wednesday, the 130-foot span bailey bridge constructed under PMGSY in the year 2016 collapsed in the mid-point caused by the impact of heavy bomb blast and had consequently cut off the key connectivity between Kamjong District headquarters and Sahamphung Sub-Divisional headquarters. As per the spot investigation, the Kuki assailants made a series of effort to sabotage the bridge and was said to be successful in the third attempt. In addition, the Kuki militants had burned down a Bolero Jeep (MΝΟ 3P 5651) belonging to the Telecom Department which was left behind after it reportedly broke down near the bridge.”

“The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) vehemently condemns the terror act committed by the Kuki militants, who are currently stationed in Kuki villages namely Kultuh, Phaikoh and Molnoi a hub of Kuki terrorists inside Myanmar’s territory. For the past few months, the Kukis with the support of KNA-B and People’s Defence Force- an armed group based in Myanmar have been unleashing violence in the ancestral land of the Nagas in Kamjong District along the Indo-Myanmar border.

“The habitual violence of abduction, murder, vandalism, arson, gun and bomb culture being carried out by the Kukis, their militants and narco-terrorists, is well known across the world. All civilized communities must seriously condemn the Kuki terror activities in an unequivocal manner. It is noteworthy to mention herein again that the act committed was the most shameful and inhuman act on the part of the migrant Kukis, who are living as tenants and at the mercy of their real land owners- the Nagas.

“The TNL Working Committee called upon the concerned authorities to immediately take necessary actions against the targeted sabotage and restore the key connectivity of border villagers. The perpetrators must be arrested, booked and put to trial in the court of law, and award a befitting punishment for damaging public property and causing immense hardship and hindrance to the livelihood of the people” added the statement issued by the Media Cell, Working Committee, TNL.

The Headman of Chatric Ningreishang has appealed to the Central and State Government for immediate restoration of the bridge. He stated that their route has been completely cut off with the rest of Manipur with the destruction of the bridge.
